The 2020 Rice Football is complete. Carter and Matthew look back at the year and hand out The Roosties, season-long superlatives for top players and plays.

It’s been a wild ride, but the 2020 Rice Football season has reached its conclusion. In addition to the more conventional awards — Team MVP, Offensive Newcomer of the Year, Special Teams Player of the Year, etc — we’ve taken some creative liberties with our second annual edition of The Roosties.

The 2020 Rice football has come to an end. We debrief the strange season and recap the final game against UAB.

Rice football saw their season end at the hands of the divisional champion UAB Blazers last Saturday. The Owls had their chances, but couldn’t rally behind their third-string quarterback in the season finale. Carter and Matther debrief the loss and dig into what went wrong and what positives can be taken away.

Then the focus pans out to the season as a whole. How did the Owls fair compare to expectations on both sides of the ball? There was a lot of good to be found, especially considering the team played much of the season missing wide receivers, defensive backs and using multiple quarterbacks.

Rice football is fresh off a landmark win over UAB. Can the Owls finish strong this week against UAB? We break it down on the show.

It was a weekend to remember for Rice football. The Owls upset No. 15 Marshall on the road, blanking the Thundering Herd 20-0 in their own stadium for the first time in program history. It was so monumental we broke out an emergency edition of The Roost Podcast immediately following the win. Make sure you check out that one here.

Rice football came into Saturday as a three-touchdown underdog but walked away winners. More on the Owls’ massive upset win.

It had been a tough year for Rice football. Injuries and postponements had kept this team from any sort of rhythm. When we broke the news that starting quarterback Mike Collins would not play for the Owls against Marshall, things looked to be turning for the worst.

Then the game started and Rice football delivered their most impactful win of the Mike Bloomgren era.
