Rice Football is well represented on 2021 NFL rosters. Here’s the latest from the NFL Owls in action in Week 6.

There are former Rice football players scattered across the NFL. Stay tuned each week for their game results and notables from each player.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Broncos

Anderson saw his first action of the season with the offense during the team’s Week 6 loss against the Raiders. He played 10 snaps, taking over for an injured Garett Bolles. Prior to this point, Anderson had only played on special teams.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett remained inactive for the Bucs’ Week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He still awaits his first regular season snaps.

Defense

Bryce Callahan – CB, Broncos

Callahan matched his 2021 season high with three tackles on Sunday, adding a tackle for a loss and a quarterback hit. He’s now played at least 65% of the defensive snaps in five of the Broncos’ six games this season.

Christian Covington – DL, Chargers

Covington had four tackles in the teams’ Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He’s had multiple tackles in every game so far this season.

Andrew Sendejo – S, Colts

Sendejo was inactive for the Colts’ Week 6 win over the Texans. He had played in the Colts’ previous three games up to that point after signing with the team after the start of the season.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox continues to be one of the strongest contributors on the Lions, punting six times with an average of 55.5 yards per kick. He boomed a long of 64 yards and had only one touchback in his six attempts.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell came through in the clutch for the Steelers, yet again. He connected on a pair of extra points and all three of his field goals, including this game-winning kick to beat the Seahawks in overtime.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Broncos

Anderson has appeared in all five of the Broncos games so far this season, exclusively playing on special teams. That meant three snaps for Anderson against the Steelers this past weekend.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett remained inactive for the Bucs’ Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins. He still awaits his first regular season snaps.

Defense and Special Teams

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell converted both of his field goal attempts against the Broncos, including a long of 48-yards. He also added three extra points on three tries. He’s 8-of-9 on field goals so far this season.

Bryce Callahan – CB, Broncos

Callahan started his first game of the season this past weekend against the Steelers. He made a season-high three solo tackles with his first tackle for a loss and this big third-down stop:

Christian Covington – DL, Chargers

Covington tallied two tackles in the Chargers’ Week 5 win over the Browns, marking the fifth consecutive game he’s recorded multiple tackles.

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox made history midway through the Lions’ Week 5 contest:

With two punts today, @Lions P @MrJackFox has reached 75-career punts.

He would go on to attempt four punts, averaging 51 yards for the game on those kicks with a long of 67 yards, tied for the longest punt of his career.

Andrew Sendejo – S, Colts

Sendejo made two tackles against the Ravens on Monday Night Football before exiting the game after his second, a hit on Ravens’ receiver James Proche.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Broncos

The Broncos only scored once against the Ravens, rendering Anderson’s special team usage to just one snap in Week 4.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett remained inactive for the Bucs Week 4 game against the New England Patriots. He still awaits his first regular season snaps with the defending Super Bowl champions.

Defense and Special Teams

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell made his lone field goal attempt on Sunday against the Packers, connecting from 52 yards. He added two extra points on two tries.

Bryce Callahan – CB, Broncos

Callahan registered his fourth pass deflection of the season and his seventh tackle in the Broncos’ Week 4 loss to the Ravens.

Christian Covington – DL, Chargers

Covington was extremely production on Monday Night Football. In addition to two tackles, he added one sack, one quarterback hit and one pass deflection.

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox put together another impressive outing in the Lions’ Week 4 loss to the Bears. He punted three times, averaging 55.3 yards per punt with a long of 56. He pinned two of his kicks inside the 20.

Andrew Sendejo – S, Colts

Sendejo saw his most action of the season on Sunday against the Dolphins, playing every defensive snap for the Colts. He registered one pass deflection as well as four total tackles.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Broncos

Anderson saw his typical allotment of special teams snaps on Sunday against the Jets. He has yet to make an appearance with the offense yet this season.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was a gameday inactive for the Bucs in their Week 3 game against the Rams. He has yet to appear in a game with the team this season.

Defense and Special Teams

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell was 1-of-2 on field goals against the Bengals in Week 3. His lone miss came from 42-yards. He converted his only extra point try.

Bryce Callahan – CB, Broncos

Callahan has registered at least one pass deflection in each of his past two games, including one against the Jets in Week 3. He also added one tackle in the shutout victory.

Christian Covington – DL, Chargers

Covington maintains an active role with the defense and special teams with the Chargers this season. He had three tackles in their Week 3 victory over the Chiefs.

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox was busy on Sunday against the Ravens, punting six times for an average of 45.5 yards. He put two of his kicks inside the 20 and hit a long of 59-yards.

Andrew Sendejo – S, Colts

Sendejo saw his first action on defense this season in Week 3 against the Colts, registering his first tackle which was a tackle for a loss. He also saw action on special teams.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Broncos

Anderson played his typical allotment of special teams snaps in the Broncos Week 2 win over the Jaguars. The Broncos host the New York Jets in Week 3.

Bryce Callahan – CB, Broncos

Callahan led the Broncos with two pass deflections against the Jaguars. He also added three tackles. The Broncos host the New York Jets in Week 3.

Christian Covington – DL, Chargers

Covington tallied a pair of tackles in the Chargers’ Week 2 loss to the Cowboys. The Chargers visit the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3.

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox punted twice on Monday Night Football, putting both of his balls inside the 20-yard line with a  long of 55 yards. The Lions host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.

Andrew Sendejo – S, Colts

Sendejo was signed by the Colts this week and plugged in quickly to their special teams unit. He didn’t see any action with the defense, but he was on the field for a total of 15 special teams plays. The Colts visit the Tennessee Titans in Week 3.
