A wave of new Transfer Portal additions will join Rice Baseball for the 2026 season. This is a rundown of the latest names to commit to the Owls so far this summer.

With the new offense comes a complete makeover of the Rice football tight end room. The new scheme will require some new skill sets, but fortunately for the Owls, they already had several players on campus who could fulfill those demands and impressed in their newfound tasks during the spring. This relatively unknown group could play a big role in the offense this fall.

Some of the adjustments make sense, but many of them bring uncertainty and more questions. Myers finished with three hits across his last two games before the break, entering the All Star break on a high note after a phenomenal start to his 2025 season. Myers is fifth on the Marlins in batting average, and second in stolen bases despite appearing in only 66 games, ninth most on the team.
Through the break, Myers is hitting .282 with 12 extra-base hits, 13 walks and 47 strikeouts. His OPS is .711 and he’s collected 23 RBI and stolen 14 bases.
Myers was the only other Rice Baseball alum active on a major league roster in the first half, briefly getting the call to The Show for one day without appearing in a game before heading back to join the AAA affiliate. Gray has appeared in 17 MLB games across the past two seasons with the Rays and the Marlins.
Rendon has been out of the news since it was reported he would miss a significant amount of time following hip surgery this spring. There have been no updates from the Angels or his camp since then.
Canterino underwent season-ending surgery this spring and was released by the Twins before subsequently signing back with the club on a minor league contract while he undergoes rehab.
