Following a loss to UConn, Rice football has fired head coach Mike Bloomgren. We share our thoughts on the timing and what’s next for the program.

Mike Bloomgren has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of Rice Football. He leaves the Owls midway through his seventh season after compiling a 24-52 record. Given the direction this season had taken, this result isn’t surprising. What does the timing of the decision mean and where do the Owls go from here?
