Rice Football is well represented on 2023 NFL rosters. Here’s the latest from the NFL Owls in action in Week 3.

There are former Rice football players scattered across the NFL. Stay tuned each week for their game results and notables from each player.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Patriots

Anderson saw only special teams duty this week after starting each of the Patriots’ first two games.

Kylen Granson – TE, Colts

A week removed from his first NFL touchdown, Granson caught two passes for nine yards. That didn’t spoil the fun week he had prior, including this photo shootΒ with the ball.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was active for the Bucs again this week, but did not see action in their Week 3 game against the Eagles.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

For the third consecutive game, Adams was active but did not record any statistics.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

After being inactive in Week 2, Garcia was active in the Broncos’ Week 3 game against the Dolphins but did not register any tackles.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox was busy on Sunday, punting six times against the Falcons. He placed three balls inside the 20 and had a long of 62 yards.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell was stellar once again, drilling a 57-yard field goal on Sunday Night football, one of three field goals he made on the night, helping propel the Steelers over the Raiders.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Patriots

Anderson posted his second start of the season this weekend in the Patriots loss to the Dolphins.

Kylen Granson – TE, Colts

Granson was the third most targeted player for the Colts on Sunday, hauling in three passes for 16 yards and the team’s only receiving score of the day. It was the first touchdown of his career.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was active for the Bucs again this week, but did not see action in their Week 2 win over the Bears.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams was active but did not record any tackles in the Seahawks’ Week 2 game against the Lions.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

After appearing in the Broncos’ season opener, Garcia was inactive for their Week 2 game against the Commanders.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox was only called upon once on Sunday, booting a 53-yard punt in his only touch against the Seahawks.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell was perfect under the Monday Night Football lights, connecting on a pair of extra points and both of his field goals tries, including a long of 52 yards.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Patriots

Anderson made his first start of the season at right tackle for the Patriots.

Kylen Gransen – TE, Colts

Gransen finished second on the team in receptions in Week 1 and third in targets, hauling in four passes for 39 yards against the Jaguars. Only leading receiver Michael Pittman was more involved in the offense through the air.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was active but did not play for the Bucs’ in their Week 1 victory over the Vikings.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams saw a few snaps on defense in the Seahawks in Week 1 against the Rams, but did not record any stats.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

Garcia had a pair of tackles in the Broncos’ Week 1 loss to the Raiders. He saw some early action in the redzone, too.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox was instrumental in the Lions’ upset win over the Chiefs on opening night. He punted five times, pinning Kansas City inside the 20 on three separate occasions and registering a long of 61 yards on his longest punt of the night.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell’s action on Sunday was short and sweet. He was called upon once to convert an extra point try following the Steelers’ long touchdown of the afternoon and did so without incident. He did not attempt any other kicks.

Offense

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was limited with a knee injury in practice this week and was inactive for the Bucs’ Wild Card game against the Cowboys following 10 consecutive regular season starts.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams made his career postseason debut this past weekend with two tackles in the Seahawks’ Wild Card game against the 49ers, including one tackle for a loss.

Bryce Callahan – CB, Chargers

Callahan was third on the team with six tackles in the Chargers’ Wild Card game against the Jaguars. He also added one pass defended. It was the first playoff appearance for the seven year pro.

Christian Covington – DL, Chargers

Covington appeared in four games for the Chargers this season before being placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a pec injury in the Chargers’ Week 10 game against the 49ers. He did not play in the Chargers’ Wild Card game against the Jaguars.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Broncos

Anderson appeared in 14 of the Broncos’ games this season, including seven starts. Before this year, he’d started five games in the 2020 and 2021 seasons combined. The Broncos did not make the playoffs.

Kylen Granson – TE, Colts

Granson set career-best marks across the board, making four starts for the Colts this season. He caught 31 passes for 203 yards. The Colts did not make the playoffs.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett started his tenth consecutive game this weekend. He’s appeared in every game for the Bucs following Week 7 after making two appearances for the Bucs a season ago with no starts. The Bucs host the Cowboys in a Wild Card game on Monday night.

Austin Trammell – WR, Rams

Trammell played in the Rams’ final six games, catching two passes for 13 yards. His primary role was on special teams this season where he played roughly a third of his total snaps. The Rams did not make the playoffs.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams appeared in a career-high 10 games for the Seahawks this season, tallying 16 tackles with one tackle for a loss, one quarterback hit and one pass defended. The Seahawks visit the 49ers in a Wild Card game on Saturday.

Bryce Callahan – CB, Chargers

Callahan appeared in a career-high 15 games for the Chargers this season, setting career highs in starts (11), tackles (47) and interceptions (3). He also posted six passes defended, two tackles for a loss and two quarterback hits. The Chargers visit the Jaguars in a Wild Card game on Saturday.

Christian Covington – DL, Chargers

Covington appeared in four games for the Chargers this season before being placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a pec injury in the Chargers’ Week 10 game against the 49ers. He finished the season with 12 tackles. The Chargers visit the Jaguars in a Wild Card game on Saturday.

Elijah Gacia – DT, Broncos

Garcia was signed off the Rams practice squad and appeared in his first game with the Broncos in Week 17. He recorded his first career tackle a week later against the Chargers. The Broncos did not make the playoffs.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox punted 52 times this season with a long of 66 yards. He pinned 14 balls inside the 20 and averaged 48.6 yards per punt, the sixth-best mark in the league. The Lions did not make the playoffs.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell made 20-of-28 field goal attempts this season and all 18 of his extra point tries. He was lethal from long range, converting on 7-of-9 field goal tries from 50+ yards away. The Steelers did not make the playoffs.
