Rice Football was well represented on 2023 NFL rosters. Here’s the latest from the NFL Owls in action this season.

There are former Rice football players scattered across the NFL. Stay tuned each week for their game results and notables from each player.

Offense

Calvin Anderson – OT, Patriots

Anderson appeared in five games for the Patriots this season, making two starts including the season opener against the Eagles. He was active for the final nine games of the regular season but did not see action down the stretch.

Kylen Granson – TE, Colts

Granson posted career highs in starts (seven), targets (50), receiving yards (368) and caught his first NFL touchdown this season. His celebratory photoshoot drew plenty of laughs.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was active for the Bucs in every game this season, but only saw action on three occasions, participating with the special teams unit.

Austin Trammell – WR, Rams

Trammell became an everyday player for the first time in his professional career, serving as the Rams’ primary return specialist this season. He returned six kicks for 101 yards and 25 punts for 183 yards. He also caught four passes, including three on a career-best offensive outing against the Seahawks.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams was in and out of the Seahawks’ lineup this season, serving as one of the primary alternatives in cases of injuries or emergencies. He made one start (week 15 against the Titans) and got his first career sack (Week 4 against the Giants), as well as playing several snaps on special teams.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

Garcia was active in three games for the Broncos, all at the beginning of the season. He picked up his first career sack in his final appearance, a Week 5 game against the Jets.

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox compiled another productive season in Detroit, punting 57 times with a 46.4-yard average with a long of 70 yards which came in Week 2 against Dallas. His 21 returnable punts ranked sixth fewest in the league among full-time punters.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell made 29-of-31 field goals this season, with one block and one miss from 40+. He was perfected from 39 yards and inward. He also delivered 27-of-28 successful extra points.

Anderson was active but did not play in the Patriots’ Week 17 game against the Bills.

Kylen Granson – TE, Colts

Granson hauled in just one reception on three targets this weekend, cooling off a bit from a career five-catch game in Week 16.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was active but did not play in the Bucs’ Week 17 game against the Saints.

Austin Trammell – WR, Rams

Trammell handled all his customary special teams duties on returns for the Rams in Week 17, but did not register any yardage on those snaps. He got on the field with the offense for just one play.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams saw action with the Seahawks’ defense for the first time since late October, getting on the field for seven plays. He did not record any official tackles.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

Garcia was inactive for the Broncos’ Week 17 game against the Chargers.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox did his job on Saturday night. He blasted a 70-yard punt, pushing his average for the night up to a crisp 48.8 yards per punt. He put two balls inside the 20-yard line.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell did not miss, once again. He handled six kicks, three field goals and three extra points, and put all of them straight through the pipes in the Steelers’ Week 17 win over the Seahawks.

Kylen Granson – TE, Colts

Granson was a focal point of the Colts’ offense this past weekend, catching five of seven targets for 62 yards. He led the Colts in receiving yards.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was active but did not play in the Bucs’ Week 16 game against the Jaguars.

Austin Trammell – WR, Rams

Trammell returned one kickoff for six yards on Thursday Night Football, playing only special teams this week.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams was inactive for the Seahawks’ Week 16 game against the Titans.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

Garcia was inactive for the Broncos’ Week 16 game against the Patriots.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

It was another good day at the office for Fox who punted three times, averaging 47.7 yards per punt while putting two balls inside the 20-yard line. He blasted a long punt of 57 yards.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell was perfect in the Steelers’ upset win over the Bengals this weekend, connecting on two field goals — one a long of 50 yards — and all four of his extra point attempts.

Granson was targeted once on Saturday against the Steelers, hauling in the only ball thrown his way for six yards.

Nick Leverett – OT, Buccaneers

Leverett was active but did not play in the Bucs’ Week 15 game against the Packers.

Austin Trammell – WR, Rams

Trammell was quiet in the Rams’ Week 15 game against the Commanders, returning one punt for four yards and getting on the field for at least one offensive snap for the 10th consecutive game.

Defense

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams was inactive for the Seahawks’ Week 15 game against the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

Garcia was inactive for the Broncos’ Week 15 game against the Lions.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox punted four times, but not often in high-leverage situations. He booted a long punt of 48 yards and put one inside the 20 in a blowout win.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell missed an extra point this weekend, his first point after failed this season. He made his other PAT attempt and did not attempt a field goal against the Colts.

Trammell returned a kickoff 22 yards and handled three punts, returning those for a total of nine yards in the Rams’ Week 14 game against the Ravens.  He saw a few snaps with the offense but did not record any targets or receptions.

Myles Adams – DL, Seahawks

Adams was active but did not play in the Seahawks’ Week 14 game against the 49ers.

Elijah Garcia – DL, Broncos

Garcia was inactive for the Broncos’ Week 14 game against the Chargers.

Special Teams

Jack Fox – P, Lions

Fox punted four times, averaging a booming 51.8 yards per punt against the Bears. He had a long of 58 yards on the day.

Chris Boswell – K, Steelers

Boswell did his duties well yet again, making his lone extra point try and nailing a 56-yard field in the Steelers’ loss to the Patriots on Thursday Night Football.
