Things are shaping up in the offensive and defensive trenches for Rice football this spring as several young faces hope to make the most of their opportunities.
As the calendar shifts from March into April, the days allotted for Rice football to complete its spring practices are running short. If there was any lull in focus during the camp grind, head coach Scott Abell did all he could to reinvigorate the troops this week, vocally challenging his team in practice to step up their game and finish strong.
“The back half of spring, I want to see us really polish up our understanding of what we’re being asked to do in all phases,” he said, stressing the importance of continued growth and progress.

In theory, that growth should be most evident in the rooms with a large influx of transfers, but the same has been true in the trenches. This update highlights the offensive and defensive line groups which, although slim on incoming players, feature young rooms with plenty of upside the Owls hope to capitalize on in the near future.
