Rice Football Recruiting: QB Viktor Lachambre commits to Owls

The 2027 Rice Football Recruiting went international and landed a signal caller. Quarterback Viktor Lachambre has committed to the Owls.

Founded in 2019, the NFL Academy has created a steady stream of college football talent over the past several years. 12 NFL Academy graduates signed with US colleges last winter, and now, the 2027 Rice Football recruiting class is getting in on the international scene. Current NFL academy quarterback Viktor Lachambre has committed to the Owls.

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Lachambre has flown a bit under the radar on the recruiting scene, picking up offers this spring from the likes of Bryant, Mississippi Valley State and D2 National Champion Ferris State, among others. He was offered on Wednesday after meeting with the staff and committed before leaving campus.

His limited exposure hasn’t stopped him from showing off, though. He posted 1,049 passing yards, 329 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns in four games against some of some of the most talented high school teams in America this past season, including games against IMG, St Thomas Aquinas, Edgewater and the Hun School.

Lachambre joins as one of the key anchors in a burgeoning 2027 class, which earned its first three pledges before Lachambre joined the fold: wide receiver Brody Diel and offensive lineman Jackson Koeppel and offensive lineman Jackson Hooker were the first to join the fold.

The tape checks all the boxes. He’s accurate and can throw with anticipation. He moves well in the pocket and, in addition to being a dynamic runner, knows how to use his legs and extend plays in the passing game. At 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, he’s an ideal fit for the scheme the Owls want to run and mirrors the molds of head coach Scott Abell’s recent additions in the room.
