The 2026 Rice football spring practices concluded on Friday with the Spring Showcase with plenty of points from the offense and some splash plays on defense.
The exhibition was short and sweet. Rice football took the field for six drives, pitting offense against defense in front of onlooking fans, who were later invited onto the field for autographs and pictures. The gathering was as much about fostering those connections as it was anything else, a theme Rice football head coach Scott Abell carried over from his first spring game in South Main a year ago.
“By this time, we as a staff have seen the things that we’ve need to see and the things that we know we need to grow in,” he said. “I thought there’s a lot of growth coming out of this spring.”
