The 2025 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.
Dane Myers – Miami Marlins
Myers finished with three hits across his last two games before the break, entering the All Star break on a high note after a phenomenal start to his 2025 season. Myers is fifth on the Marlins in batting average, and second in stolen bases despite appearing in only 66 games, ninth most on the team.
Through the break, Myers is hitting .282 with 12 extra-base hits, 13 walks and 47 strikeouts. His OPS is .711 and he’s collected 23 RBI and stolen 14 bases.
Tristan Gray – Chicago White Sox
Myers was the only other Rice Baseball alum active on a major league roster in the first half, briefly getting the call to The Show for one day without appearing in a game before heading back to join the AAA affiliate. Gray has appeared in 17 MLB games across the past two seasons with the Rays and the Marlins.
Injured List
Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels
Rendon has been out of the news since it was reported he would miss a significant amount of time following hip surgery this spring. There have been no updates from the Angels or his camp since then.
Matt Canterino – Twins AAA
Canterino underwent season-ending surgery this spring and was released by the Twins before subsequently signing back with the club on a minor league contract while he undergoes rehab.
