Rice Baseball 2025: MLB Owls Update – July 9

The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.

Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds

Myers remains on the Injured List after a collision with the center field wall while making a catch last week. Reports indicate he received an injection in his AC joint of that shoulder on Saturday, but does not currently have a slated timeline for return.

Through July 9, Myers is hitting .256 with nine extra-base hits, 17 walks and 35 strikeouts. His OPS is .742. He’s collected 14 RBI and stolen five bases.

Tristan Gray – Minnesota Twins

Gray saw action in just one game over the past week, making a start at shortstop last Friday against the Yankees. He failed to reach base in four plate appearances. After beginning the season with a strong .269/.316/.462 slash line across March and April, Gray has been in a bit of a funk over the past few weeks, slashing .152/.188/.174 over his last month.

Through July 9, Gray is hitting .226 with nine extra-base hits, nine walks and 55 strikeouts. His OPS is .601. He’s collected 28 RBI.

Injured List

Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels

Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
