Rice Baseball 2025: MLB Owls Update – June 11

The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.

Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds

Myers is in the midst of a hot streak at the plate, hitting safely in his last five contests, only one of which did he play a complete game. He also picked up a pair of stolen bases, doubling his season total. His seven hits as a pinch-hitter this season lead all of major league baseball.

Through June 10, Myers is hitting .268 with seven extra-base hits, 12 walks and 28 strikeouts. His OPS is .759. He’s collected 12 RBI and stolen four bases.

Tristan Gray – Minnesota Twins

Gray played some short stop and saw work as a pinch hitter this week, going 3-for-10 across five games, including a 2-for-3 showing against the Royals on Friday, including his fourth double of the season.

Through June 10, Gray is hitting .257 with eight extra-base hits, seven walks and 38 strikeouts. His OPS is .697. He’s collected 26 RBI.

Injured List

Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels

Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.

Knocking on the Door

The following Owls began the season in AAA:

  • Trei Cruz – Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers)
  • Matt Canterino – St. Paul Saints (Twins)
