The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.
Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds
Myers is on a heater, seeing action in every game this week with three starts. During that time he hit .313 with two home runs, seven RBI and a 1.146 OPS. Bombs into the right field bleachers are just part of his value add to the Reds.
Myers also keeps adding value with his glove, playing elite defense in center field.
Through May 20, Myers is hitting .243 with five extra-base hits, 10 walks and 23 strikeouts. His OPS is .749. He’s collected 11 RBI and stolen two bases.
Tristan Gray – Minnesota Twins
Gray has seen a run of more consistent playing time this week, starting four of Minnesota’s last five games, seeing all of his action at third base. During that stretch, he’s picked up two hits and walked three times while limiting his strikeouts to just two across 12 plate appearances.
Through May 20, Gray is hitting .240 with four extra-base hits, six walks and 27 strikeouts. His OPS is .675. He’s collected 14 RBI.
Injured List
Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels
Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
Knocking on the Door
The following Owls began the season in AAA:
