The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.
Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds
Myers only had two hits at the plate in five appearances this week, but one of those left the ballpark. He launched his eighth home run of the season in a win over the Braves on Tuesday, that’s two more than his previous career high of six home runs in a season, which came with the Marlins in 2025.
Through September 23, Myers is hitting .257 with 19 extra-base hits, 37 walks and 82 strikeouts. His OPS is .721. He’s collected 27 RBI and stolen 10 bases.
Injured List
Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels
Rendon began the 2026 season on the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will sideline him for the 2026 season, too.

The following Owls either began the season in AAA or currently reside there:

- Hayden Durke – Reno Aces (Diamondbacks)
