The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.
Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds
A handful of off days made for a lighter workload for Myers this week, seeing action in four games. He found a way to make the most of it, though, mashing his sixth home run in the process. He came off the bench on Monday, registering his 11th pinch hit of the season.
Through September 1, Myers is hitting .254 with 15 extra-base hits, 32 walks and 67 strikeouts. His OPS is .713. He’s collected 22 RBI and stolen nine bases.
Injured List
Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels
Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
Knocking on the Door
The following Owls either began the season in AAA or currently reside there:
- Trei Cruz – Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers) — Big League debut on June 19, 2026
- Hayden Durke – Reno Aces (Diamondbacks)
- Matt Canterino – St. Paul Saints (Twins)
