The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.
Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds
After a red-hot end to July, Myers has opened the month of August with a more subdued start at the plate. He had one hit this past week, walking twice with a pair of RBI
Through August 12, Myers is hitting .255 with 11 extra-base hits, 25 walks and 57 strikeouts. His OPS is .699. He’s collected 18 RBI and stolen seven bases.
Injured List
Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels
Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
Knocking on the Door
The following Owls either began the season in AAA or currently reside there:
- Trei Cruz – Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers) — Big League debut on June 19, 2026
- Hayden Durke – Reno Aces (Diamondbacks)
- Matt Canterino – St. Paul Saints (Twins)
