Rice Baseball 2025: MLB Owls Update – June 18

The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.

Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds

Myers had an interesting week at the plate, highlighted by a three-walk game against the Diamondbacks on Friday. He stole his fifth base of the season in that contest, keeping him perfect on swipes so far this season. That was his only complete nine-inning stint this week, seeing action in parts of three other contests, taking just three at bats in those games.

Through June 17, Myers is hitting .255 with seven extra-base hits, 15 walks and 31 strikeouts. His OPS is .741. He’s collected 12 RBI and stolen five bases.

Tristan Gray – Minnesota Twins

Gray saw action in five games this week, making four starts at shortstop. He’s made appearances at all four infield positions this season, although most of those appearances have been split between shortstop and third base. He didn’t have much success at the plate, going 2-for-14 in those games with one RBI.

Through June 17, Gray is hitting .244 with eight extra-base hits, eight walks and 42 strikeouts. His OPS is .697. He’s collected 26 RBI.

Injured List

Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels

Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
