Another addition from the international ranks has joined the 2026 Rice Basketball Recruiting class. Hungarian forward Salan Flasar has committed to the Owls.
It’s safe to say the Owls have scoured the globe to build the incoming 2026 Rice Basketball recruiting class. A few weeks removed from earning a pledge from forward Tristian Vukotic of Slovenia, Rice has another from the European ranks set to join the fold. Hungarian forward Zalan Flasar has committed to the Owls.
Flasar most recently played for Sopron KC in Hungary last season, where he averaged 6.0 points and 3.3 rebounds. Prior to that, he also saw action for the Hungarian FIBA U18 squad, averaging 10.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists for that team, earning Hungary’s U19 Player of the Year honors for those efforts.
Getting someone with a physical presence inside was crucial in this class, making the 6-foot-8 Flasar an important add as the Owls fill out their roster for the upcoming season. That he’ll have time to further develop as he enters D1 basketball is an added benefit the Owls hope to make the most of.

Flasar is tenacious in the interior, a theme that appears over and over again in his highlights. That’s important, but so is his vision as a distributor, which should benefit the rest of the unit around him. He’s a great fit for what the Owls want to do and a terrific addition to the class.
