The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.
Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds
Myers logged 12 innings this week as a defensive replacement, entering five different games in the seventh inning or later. That role limited his plate appearances to just six in that span. He worked one walk, struck out three times and did not collect a hit, but did notch his fourth RBI of the year.
Through May 6, Myers is hitting .261 with one extra-base hit, 10 walks and 12 strikeouts. His OPS is .730. He’s collected four RBI and stolen two bases.
Tristan Gray – Minnesota Twins
Gray drew two starts this week for the Twins, both at third base. He went a combined 1-for-6 at the plate on those days with a single, scoring once.
Through May 6, Gray is hitting .259 with four extra-base hits, three walks and 21 strikeouts. His OPS is .733. He’s collected 13 RBI.
Injured List
Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels
Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
