Rice Baseball 2025: MLB Owls Update – April 29

The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.

Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds

Myers continues to go back and forth between complete games and entering contests late as a defensive replacement. That hasn’t slowed down his bat. This week, Myers had 13 plate appearances across four games, collecting four hits, three walks and scoring five times. He also picked up his second stolen base of the season.

Through April 29, Myers is hitting .293 with one extra-base hit, nine walks and nine strikeouts. His OPS is .797. He’s collected three RBI and stolen two bases.

Tristan Gray – Minnesota Twins

This week, Gray made starts at three different positions — second base, third base and shortstop — and managed a pair of multi-hit games and a blistering 400+ foot home run in the process. It was his third home run of the year.

Through April 29, Gray is hitting .269 with four extra-base hits, three walks and 19 strikeouts. His OPS is .777. He’s collected 13 RBI.

Injured List

Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels

Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
