Rice Baseball 2025: MLB Owls Update – April 15

The 2026 MLB season is underway and Rice baseball alums are making the most of their time in The Show. Here’s the latest from the MLB Owls.

Dane Myers – Cincinnati Reds

Myers continues to work wonders with limited playing time. He appeared in five games for the Myers this week, entering three of them as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning or later. He still managed to pick up a couple of hits, but his biggest impact came in the field with a leaping home run robbery against his former team.

Through April 15, Myers is hitting .261 with no extra-base hits, two walks and four strikeouts. His OPS is .581. He’s collected one RBI.

Tristan Gray – Minnesota Twins

In his own words, Gray is “living the dream“. Gray continues to seize the opportunity of extended playing time and is not slowing down, adding a three-run homer off Max Scherzer to his list of season accomplishments, which featured a grand slam the week prior.

Through April 8, Gray is hitting .296 with three extra-base hits, two walks and nine strikeouts. His OPS is .910. He’s collected 11 RBI.

Injured List

Anthony Rendon – Los Angeles Angels

Rendon began the 2026 season the the 60-day injured list, a procedural move following hip surgery that caused him to miss the 2025 season and will likely sideline him for most, if not all, of the 2026 season.
